The Kindergarteners and 1st graders viewed examples of sunflowers created by Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keefe and Claude Monet. They noticed the variety of colors the artists used to create the sunflowers and how the paintings all included a background. The students then created their own drawings of sunflowers by looking at a sunflower in a vase on their tables. They then chose which mediums they wanted to use to add color to their drawings. Some artists chose oil pastels, some used chalk pastels, some wanted to use markers, others wanted to use colored pencils, and many of the artists did combinations of 2 or more mediums. Each sunflower drawing is very unique!
