Kindergarten and 1st Grade Butterflies
The Kindergarten and 1st Graders learned about monarch butterflies and the long journey they make to Mexico every winter. In this lesson, the students learned about symmetry and how to use basic printing techniques to create a symmetrical butterfly. On a piece of paper, the students painted the letter "B" in orange, folded the paper in half and pressed them together to print the shape on the other side of the paper. They repeated the same method to add black and white to their butterflies. It was really exciting to see how everything looked after opening the paper back up! Some of the classes had the opportunity to cut their butterflies out and create a collage with the butterfly. The butterflies are all unique and beautiful.
