Kindergarten and 1st Grade Andy Warhol Inspired Endangered Species

The Kindergarteners learned about the artist Andy Warhol and his series of prints of endangered species. We learned about what endangered species are and the many reasons why an animal may become endangered. We focused on a few different animals - grey wolves, rhinos and green sea turtles. The students learned how to draw these animals by putting together shapes for different parts of the animals' bodies. The students then learned about primary colors and painted their wolf with primary colors. They learned about secondary colors and painted their rhino with secondary colors. They learned about complementary colors and painted their turtle with a pair of complementary colors. They did an amazing job drawing their animals and being creative with their paintings.
