Second Grade Australian Aboriginal Art

The 2nd graders learned about the unique characteristics of Australian Aboriginal painting. Since the Australian artists based their paintings on Dreamtime stories (stories that were passed from generation to generation about how everything was created), the students' paintings were inspired by a Dreamtime story, as well. They also learned about warm and cool colors and positive and negative space. The positive space (the object in the painting) was painted using warm colors and the negative space (the space around the object) was painted using cool colors. The results were fantastic!

  1. Prominent art experts have described Aboriginal Art as the unification of ancient custom and practice. It has created a stir as it is realized as a discovery that will never be seen again.
